Almost every day we are reading and hearing of the coming "bird flu." The media, doctors, and drug companies have been sadly effective in instilling great fear into the hearts and minds of the public. And they are adding fuel to the fear by "warning" the public that there are inadequate amounts of the flu vaccine for people and that this is particularly a problem for people, especially the elderly, who are most vulnerable to serious complications of the flu.
요즘 매일 우리는 "조류독감"이 온다는 이야기를 듣고 보고 있다. 언론, 의사 그리고 제약회사들은 대중들에게 두려움을 불어넣고 있다. 그리고는 백신 공급량이 부족하다는 경고를 대중들에게 발표함으로써 불안을 더 가중시키고 있다. 특히 나이든 어른이나은 이 독감 때문에 심각한 문제가 일어 날 수 있다고 겁을 주고 있다.
The problem here is that according to a new edition of the LANCET (October 1, 2005), a systematic review of all previous studies testing vaccines for the flu that shown that they are NOT effective in preventing the flu or "influenza-like illness" or pneumonia in the elderly population. It is indeed a sad fact that the media and the medical community is instilling fear into people and yet not disclosing that the "prevention" strategy do not seem to work.
그러나 그들이 이야기하는 것과는 반대로 문제는 진짜 다른 곳에 있다. 2005년 10월1일에 LANCET지에 실린 내용에 따르면 과거의 사례를 연구한 결과 독감 백신은 독감이나 인플루엔자 유발 병들을 예방하지 못했고 나이든 사람들의 폐렴에 하등 도움이 되지 못했음을 보여주고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 독감 백신을 이용해 독감을 막을 수 있다는 의견을 주장하면 사람들에게공포를 확산 시키는 의료계의 현실을 개탄하지 않을 수 없다.
The other "at-risk" group that the CDC recommends getting a flu vaccine is children, and yet, an important article in the LANCET (February 26, 2005) literally analyzed every available reference on the subject that they could find in the Cochrane Library, MEDLINE, EMBASE Biological Abstracts and Science Citation Index to June 2004 ? in any language. They included 14 randomized controlled trials, eight cohort studies, one case-control study and one randomized controlled trial of intraepidemic use of the vaccine.
미국질병통제센터에 따르면 독감 백신을 필요로하는 위험 그룹은 어린이들이었다. 2005년2월 LANCET지에 발표된 자료 -아주 반대한 의학 문헌들을 가지고 조사가 된-에 따르면 독감 백신의 유효성을 시험하는 14번의 실험을 포함하고 있었다.
Surprisingly, they only found two small studies that assessed the effects of influenza vaccines on hospital admissions (the alleged reason for the CDC's recommendation). And they could not find a single study that assessed reductions in mortality, serious complications or even community transmission of the disease.
놀랍게도 단 두편의 연구만이 독감백신이 효과가 있다는 연구결과를 내놓았다. 그리나 단 한편의 연구도 독감 백신이 사망율을 줄이거나 심각한 병을 막거나 병의 집단 전염을 막는다는 결과를 내놓지 못했다.
These studies provide significant doubt about the efficacy in preventing the flu with present vaccines.
이러한 연구들은 현존하는 백신이 독감을 예방한다는 주장에 대해 심각한 의심을 일으키게 한다.
The conventional treatment strategies for the flu are also problematic. The most popular conventional drug, Tamiflu, is an anti-viral, but it is quickly losing its efficacy because it is being over-used for the common flu, rather than for its more appropriate use in treating more dangerous versions of the flu, such as the new avian flu.
현대의학의 독감을 다루는 치유전략은 문제 투성이다. 가장 대중적인 타미플루도 그 효력을 급격하게 잃고 있다. 왜냐하면 이 약은 위험한 형태의 새로운 독감을 치료하는데 적절하게사용된 것이 아니라 일반 감기에 너무나 많이 처방되어왔기 때문이다.
There are, however, good reasons that homeopaths and their patients are not afraid of the flu, either this year or for years in the past.

n this winter of 2004, the #1 health topic has been the horrible influenzas that are going around. Not only are people dying from it, millions of people are suffering from it.
Sadly, the media has not adequately reported on the only over-the-counter flu medicine that has at least THREE large independent clinical studies verifying its efficacy.and that medicine is a homeopathic medicine called OSCILLOCOCCINUM.
불행히도 언론은 독감에 유일하게 효력이 좋다고 연구 된 동종요법 약인 OSCILLOCOCCINUM에 대해서는 보도하지 않았다.
Oscillococcinum may be the most difficult name of the medicine ever created, and that is why so many people simply call it "Oscillo." This medicine is wonderfully effective as long as you use it within the first 48 hours of getting flu symptoms.
이 약은 독감 증상이 있은지 48시간 이내에 복용하면 아주 효과적인 약이다.
By the way, Oscillococcinum is actually made from the heart and liver of a duck. Although this may sound like quackery (my apologies for that sick pun), biologists and epidemiologists have determined that 80% of ducks carry every known flu virus in their digestive tracts. Therefore, Oscillo includes homeopathic doses of these viruses (and of their antibodies).
오실로라 불리우는 이 약근 오리의 간과 심장으로 만드는데, 80%의 오리는 소화기관에 이제까지 알려진 모든 종류의 바이러스를 갖고 있기 때문에 오실로는 동종요법에서 말하는 동종용량의 바이러스와 항생물질을 함유하고 이다고 보아야 한다. For the record the three studies that have confirmed the efficacy of Oscillococcinum are Ferley, 1989; Cassanova, 1992; Papp, 1998. Each of these trials was relatively large in the number of subjects (487 patients, 300 patients, and 372 patients), and all were multi-centered placebo-controlled and double-blind (two of the three trials were also randomized). Each of these trials showed statistically significant results.
